About us

Welcome

Anna Costello is the founder of Constructing Wellbeing. She is a BACP Accredited Counsellor and has 19 years experience of working with individuals and groups. Championing positive mental health has always been a priority in all of her work. As individuals our mental health can be affected in many different ways and poor mental health can have an enormous impact on our day to day lives. A relationship between drug and alcohol use and poor mental health often co-exists. Anna has spent several years working in drug and alcohol treatment centres, delivering therapy groups and psycho-educational workshops.

Anna says:  “I have always felt most at home when I am amongst a group of people. It is a huge honour to facilitate a group and to encourage members to share their ideas and experiences. Time and time again, I have had the privilege of seeing how empowering shared identification can be and the positive impact of learning together in an environment that promotes support and care for one another.”

Anna has expertise in delivering information on drugs and alcohol and mental health problems, as well as sign-posting people to the right support services. This dual approach has proved to be an effective springboard to change for many of her clients.

Why we exist

Building a safer and happier construction site

We know that site safety and the physical wellbeing of your workforce is incredibly important to you. Unfortunately, data informs us that mental health and substance misuse problems are not given the same priority. This is not only bad for society but it is bad for business. Your workforce is your greatest asset and the wellbeing of your employees is the foundation to a successful business.

Mental health is now the main reason for staff absences and the misuse of drugs and alcohol amongst the workforce is the reason why up to 30 per cent of site accidents are occurring. We know that you need your site to run well and for staff to be present, efficient and focussed. Poor mental health and drug and alcohol problems are barriers to optimising the working day.

Constructing Wellbeing provide a solution by offering your  managers and/or site staff expert certified CPD training to recognise signs and symptoms of poor mental health and problematic substance use. As well as this, we offer ways for individuals to take responsibility for their wellbeing through support and sign-posting. The group training provides an opportunity to challenge the "tough guy" stereo-type  by reducing the stigma around mental health problems and by fostering a culture of ‘looking out for’ our for work mates and colleagues.
